El proyecto del SWFC Shanghai World Financial Center se abandonó momentáneamente al terminarlo motivado por la crisis financiera asiática de finales de los años 1990. Posteriormente, y renovando el proyecto mediante algunos cambios estructurales importantes llevados a cabo por el equipo de Ingenieros LERA con Leslie Robertson a la cabeza, se consiguió mejorar de forma positiva la estructura mediante un nuevo diseño a base de vigas Outrigger (en voladizo) diagonales, que redujeron el peso del edificio en más de un 10%; también se mejoró el diseño final del ojo superior con una forma más cuadrada, ya que en su primer boceto era redonda. Mediante estos cambios innovadores se redujeron las cargas transversales por la acción horizontal del viento ganando también 32 metros más de altura con respecto a su diseño anterior. Gracias a este renovado sistema estructural llevado a cabo por LERA, el edificio ganó en calidad, belleza, ligereza, esbeltez y modernidad.

El edificio fue inaugurado espléndido en Agosto de 2008 y a día de hoy está considerado como uno de los mejores rascacielos del mundo, no en vano, fue nombrado por el CTBUH, Consejo de Edificios Altos y Habitat Urbano con Sede en Chicago, como el mejor edificio del mundo en 2008. El diseño de este majestuoso edificio esta inspirado en un prisma que representa la tierra más dos grandes arcos cósmicos en su parte superior que representan al cielo; estos dos conceptos juntos y a la vez que el edificio asciende hacia el cielo, hacen que tierra y cielo se fundan y conformen un todo en el horizonte de Shanghai mirando hacia el futuro.

El edificio posee una belleza geométrica sin igual, y está formado por diferentes fachadas simétricas conformadas a base de muros cortina. La base del edificio tiene forma cuadrada, y van cambiando sus dimensiones en planta según va ascendiendo, transformándose en diferentes formas geométricas de menor superficie hasta converger en un rectángulo en la cubierta. El enorme prisma dispone de un gran arco en su parte superior que contiene tres miradores de observación a diferentes alturas con espectaculares vistas a ambos lados de la ciudad de Shanghai. El mirador más bajo, llamado Sky Arena, está situado entre las plantas 94 y 95; un poco más arriba, el mirador llamado Sky Walk, está formado por dos plataformas de observación, una en la planta 97 y la más alta en la planta número 100.

El edificio cuenta con 8 plantas destinadas a refugio que se encuentran repartidas a lo largo de todo el edificio en caso de terremoto o posible incendio. El núcleo de oficinas se encuentra alojado entre las plantas 7 y 77. El Hotel, que se sitúa justo encima de las 67 plantas de oficinas, se distribuye entre la planta 79 hasta la 88 y cuenta con su propio restaurante de tres plantas con varios espacios diáfanos. El edificio acoge a sus pies varias plantas destinadas a parking y diferentes tiendas dándole vida a la importante calle en la que se encuentra. El Shanghai World Financial Center cuenta con diferentes entradas bien diferenciadas para todos los usos a los que se destinó, ya que el ángulo que forman las fachadas organizó bien los suelos separando así dichas entradas a ambos lados.

The draft SWFC Shanghai World Financial Center to finish it was abandoned temporarily motivated by the Asian financial crisis of late 1990. Subsequently, and renewing the project through some major structural changes carried out by a team of Engineers LERA with Leslie Robertson at the helm, we obtained an improvement in a positive way through a new structure-based design Outrigger beams (cantilever) diagonal which reduced the weight of the building by more than 10% also improved the final design of the eye more than a square, as in his first sketch was round. Through these innovative changes lateral loads were reduced by the horizontal wind action also gaining more than 32 meters high with respect to its previous design. Thanks to this new structural system conducted by LERA, the building won in quality, beauty, lightness, slimness and modernity.

The splendid building was inaugurated in August 2008 and today is considered one of the best skyscrapers in the world, not in vain, was appointed by the CTBUH, Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, with headquarters in Chicago, as the best building the world in 2008. The design of this majestic building is inspired by a prism that represents earth cosmic plus two large arches at the top representing the heavens, these two concepts together and while building up towards the sky, make earth and sky melt and form a whole in the Shanghai skyline looking toward the future.

The building has a beautiful geometric none, and is composed of different shaped symmetrical facades based curtain walls. The base of the building is square and its dimensions are changing on the ground as it ascends, becoming smaller geometric shapes converge surface to a rectangle on the cover. The huge lens features a large bow on top that contains three viewpoints of observation at different heights with spectacular views on both sides of the city of Shanghai. The lower lookout, called Sky Arena, located on floors 94 and 95, a little higher, the lookout called Sky Walk consists of two observation platforms, one on the ground 97 and the highest in the plant number 100.

The building has 8 floors for shelter that are spread throughout the building in an earthquake or possible fire. The core office is housed on floors 7 and 77. The Hotel, situated just above the 67 floors of offices, the plant is distributed among 79 to 88 and has its own restaurant with three floors and several open spaces. The building houses several plants his feet and parking for different stores important to give life to the street you are. The Shanghai World Financial Center has several distinct entries for all the uses to which it was provided, as the angle between the soil well organized fronts separating these entries on both sides.

El Espirito Santo Plaza se encuentra localizado en la Avenida Brickell, junto al mar, en pleno corazón de la ciudad de Miami, Florida, Estados Unidos. Lo más destacado de esta interesantísima obra es la preciosa fachada de forma cóncava que sorprende por encima del resto del majestuoso conjunto. El original diseño se consiguió mediante el resultado de la intersección entre un paralelepípedo y la sección de una zona concreta de un cilindro, superponiendo ambas; posteriormente y para darle su característica forma final, se definió con un corte vertical en diagonal.

Una bonita pasarela peatonal que salva una fuente de agua y que se sitúa en una plaza con zonas ajardinadas, nos conduce al interior del bello recinto. El proyecto se completa con varios módulos posteriores a la Avenida Brickell en el que destaca uno de 12 plantas con parking para 980 vehículos y una piscina descubierta en su planta superior.

La fachada vanguardista, que está diseñada para soportar mejor los fuertes vientos y los tifones habituales que azotan esta zona geográfica durante gran parte del año, se ha convertido en muy poco tiempo en todo un emblema para la ciudad. El bloque principal, que cuenta con 148 metros de altura que se elevan desde el nivel del mar hasta la cima, aloja en su interior 36 plantas con un uso enteramente mixto. Las oficinas del Banco se distribuyeron entre la tercera y la decimoquinta planta, mientras que las habitaciones del Hotel Conrad desde el piso 17 al 23.

Los apartamentos de lujo superiores se distribuyeron en torno a un enorme atrio diáfano de 34.5 metros de altura que se iluminó de forma natural gracias al vidrio translúcido y desde el que se divisa una preciosa vista panorámica a la ciudad de Miami. El Espirito Santo Plaza diseñado por la prestigiosa firma de arquitectos KPF – Kohn Pedersen Fox, ha recibido diferentes galardones importantes por el diseño de este vanguardista y moderno High-rise.

The Espirito Santo Plaza is located on Brickell Avenue, near the sea, in the heart of the city of Miami, Florida, USA. The highlight of this interesting book is the precious concave facade surprising than the rest of the majestic whole. The original design was achieved by the result of the intersection of a rectangular section and a specific area of a cylinder, overlapping both, then their property and to give final shape was defined with a vertical cut on the diagonal.

The front cutting edge, which is designed to better withstand strong winds and typhoons that hit the usual geographical area for much of the year, has become very short time an emblem for the city.
