La sorprendente Torre Aqua se encuentra localizada en el 211 North Columbus Drive, al sur del río Chicago y muy próxima al Parque Este de Lakeshore, en Chicago, Illinois, USA. El edificio se ha convertido en muy poco tiempo en un verdadero icono arquitectónico, ya que según el punto de vista desde el que se mire a nivel de calle y mediante un efecto óptico, da la sensación que exista agua en la propia fachada del edificio gracias al reflejo del vidrio en las ventanas. La espectacular torre de planta rectangular tiene una forma escultural debido a las diferentes terrazas de color blanco con formas ondulantes que simulando también el agua, adornan la fachada y vuelan en algunos casos hasta los 3.5 metros; de esta forma, mediante estas terrazas de sinuosas formas, cada planta del edificio es totalmente diferente. Lejos del muro cortina liso tan habitual en la arquitectura de edificios residenciales y de oficinas, el Studio Gang quiso que con esta prolongación de la fachada mediante estos espacios irregulares curvos, los usuarios pudiesen disfrutar y convivir con la ciudad también en el exterior del edificio.
Mediante una estructura de hormigón armado, la Aqua Tower dispone de 86 plantas en las que se distribuyeron 819 apartamentos y 225 habitaciones de Hotel; varios espacios comerciales se sitúan también en los niveles inferiores. El majestuoso edificio cuenta con 24 ascensores ultrarrápidos y 1557 aparcamientos privados bajo la rasante de la calle. La Aqua Tower con sus 261.74 metros de altura, figura en el puesto número 10 de los rascacielos más altos de Chicago; también ocupa el puesto número 33 de los más altos de Norteamérica y el puesto número 31 entre los más altos de los Estados Unidos. El elegante high-rise recibió el Premio de la Arquitectura Americana en 2008 cuando aún no había terminado su construcción hasta ese momento; no obstante, el bonito e innovador rascacielos se inauguró en el verano de 2009. Con la construcción de este interesante rascacielos se ha demostrado que continúa la buena tradición de la arquitectura de Chicago, que es sin duda junto con Nueva York, la cuna de los rascacielos por excelencia.

The amazing Aqua Tower is located at 211 North Columbus Drive, south of the Chicago River and very close to the Lakeshore East Park, Chicago, Illinois, USA. The building has very quickly become a true architectural icon, since according to the viewpoint from which to look at the street level and through an optical effect, gives the impression that there is water in front of the building itself through the reflection of glass in the windows. The spectacular rectangular tower has a sculptural form because of the different white terraces with undulating forms simulating water also adorn the facade and fly in some cases up to 3.5 meters, in this way, through these terraces winding forms Each floor of the building is entirely different. Far from the curtain wall smooth as usual in the architecture of residential and office buildings, Studio Gang wanted with this extension of the facade by these irregular curved spaces, users could enjoy and interact with the city, including outside the building.
