La nueva Sede Central de Telefónica se encuentra localizada en la Ronda de la Comunicación, en Las Tablas, Madrid. El origen de este interesante proyecto consistía fundamentalmente en trasladar las diferentes oficinas que la importante Empresa Telefónica de España tenía repartidas por diferentes puntos de la ciudad de Madrid acogiendo así a sus 12.000 empleados en un mismo recinto. El Arquitecto solucionó el importante proyecto inspirándose en los antiguos campamentos defensivos que se delimitaban con cuatro torres en sus cuatro vértices; así surgiría “DISTRITO C”. El enorme complejo se ubicó en un solar de 18 Hectáreas emplazado muy cerca de la M-40, por lo que la nueva estación de metro subterránea que se incluyó en el mismo proyecto y que lo atraviesa diagonalmente bajo tierra, se ha convertido en uno de los elementos más destacados de esta obra mejorando en gran medida las comunicaciones en las inmediaciones.
Distrito C se compone de 16 edificios independientes en el que predomina el material del vidrio y la geometría de la retícula cuadrada. Cuatro torres más altas que el resto de edificaciones se sitúan en los cuatro vértices del gran solar, mientras que el resto de edificios de menores dimensiones que se situan en el centro, quedan unidos por medio de una enorme cubierta revestida a base de placas fotovoltaicas con las que se consigue un enorme ahorro energético durante todo el año. 4700 plazas de aparcamientos se sitúan también en dos plantas bajo rasante a diferentes niveles. El agua situada en un gran estante central con una fuente rodeada por zonas verdes a modo de campus, une también el conjunto de edificaciones en torno a ella.
Para el recubrimiento de las vanguardistas fachadas se hizo el empleo del vidrio en toda su gama, desde la tonalidad totalmente transparente mediante placas de 4x2 metros, hasta la tonalidad opaca que fue diseñada específicamente para este proyecto. Mediante un sistema modular de doble muro cortina, se hizo un estudio exhaustivo mediante capas de vidrio tratado para conseguir así que los rayos solares y las sombras que incidían sobre las diferentes fachadas durante el día redujesen el factor solar resultante hasta el 19%; esta doble combinación ayudó a que se instalase el sistema de aire acondicionado de viga fría. La enorme cubierta a modo de toldo que protege prácticamente a todo el complejo de la lluvia y que a su vez da sombra y refresca grandes espacios, cuenta nada menos que con 26.000 m² de placas solares que transforman la energía solar en electricidad, haciendo de esta enorme superficie de captación horizontal de energía solar la mayor de Europa en la actualidad.

New Telefonica HQ is located in the Ronda de la Comunicación, in Las Tablas, Madrid. The origin of this interesting project consisted mainly in translating various important offices that the company Telefónica of Spain was spread over different parts of the host city of Madrid and its 12,000 employees in the same place. The architect solved the major project inspired by the old camps defensive delineating four towers at its four corners, and emerge "DISTRICT C". The huge complex is located on a plot of 18 acres located near the M-40, so that the new underground metro station which was included in the same project and diagonally across it underground, has become one of the salient points of this work greatly improving communications in the vicinity.
District C is composed of 16 separate buildings in the predominantly glass material and the geometry of the grid square. Four towers taller than the other buildings are located at the four corners of the large plot, while the other smaller buildings that are located in the center, are joined by a huge covered deck plates based photovoltaic which had a great energy savings over the year. 4700 parking spaces are also located two floors below ground at different levels. The water located in a large center shelf with a fountain surrounded by greenery as a campus, also joins the group of buildings around it.
For the coating of the cutting-edge employment facades are made of glass in all its range, from fully transparent tone plates by 4x2 meters until opaque shade was designed specifically for this project. El proyecto del SWFC Shanghai World Financial Center se abandonó momentáneamente al terminarlo motivado por la crisis financiera asiática de finales de los años 1990. Posteriormente, y renovando el proyecto mediante algunos cambios estructurales importantes llevados a cabo por el equipo de Ingenieros LERA con Leslie Robertson a la cabeza, se consiguió mejorar de forma positiva la estructura mediante un nuevo diseño a base de vigas Outrigger (en voladizo) diagonales, que redujeron el peso del edificio en más de un 10%; también se mejoró el diseño final del ojo superior con una forma más cuadrada, ya que en su primer boceto era redonda. Mediante estos cambios innovadores se redujeron las cargas transversales por la acción horizontal del viento ganando también 32 metros más de altura con respecto a su diseño anterior. Gracias a este renovado sistema estructural llevado a cabo por LERA, el edificio ganó en calidad, belleza, ligereza, esbeltez y modernidad.
El edificio fue inaugurado espléndido en Agosto de 2008 y a día de hoy está considerado como uno de los mejores rascacielos del mundo, no en vano, fue nombrado por el CTBUH, Consejo de Edificios Altos y Habitat Urbano con Sede en Chicago, como el mejor edificio del mundo en 2008. El diseño de este majestuoso edificio esta inspirado en un prisma que representa la tierra más dos grandes arcos cósmicos en su parte superior que representan al cielo; estos dos conceptos juntos y a la vez que el edificio asciende hacia el cielo, hacen que tierra y cielo se fundan y conformen un todo en el horizonte de Shanghai mirando hacia el futuro.
El edificio posee una belleza geométrica sin igual, y está formado por diferentes fachadas simétricas conformadas a base de muros cortina. La base del edificio tiene forma cuadrada, y van cambiando sus dimensiones en planta según va ascendiendo, transformándose en diferentes formas geométricas de menor superficie hasta converger en un rectángulo en la cubierta. El enorme prisma dispone de un gran arco en su parte superior que contiene tres miradores de observación a diferentes alturas con espectaculares vistas a ambos lados de la ciudad de Shanghai. El mirador más bajo, llamado Sky Arena, está situado entre las plantas 94 y 95; un poco más arriba, el mirador llamado Sky Walk, está formado por dos plataformas de observación, una en la planta 97 y la más alta en la planta número 100.
El edificio cuenta con 8 plantas destinadas a refugio que se encuentran repartidas a lo largo de todo el edificio en caso de terremoto o posible incendio. El núcleo de oficinas se encuentra alojado entre las plantas 7 y 77. El Hotel, que se sitúa justo encima de las 67 plantas de oficinas, se distribuye entre la planta 79 hasta la 88 y cuenta con su propio restaurante de tres plantas con varios espacios diáfanos. El edificio acoge a sus pies varias plantas destinadas a parking y diferentes tiendas dándole vida a la importante calle en la que se encuentra. El Shanghai World Financial Center cuenta con diferentes entradas bien diferenciadas para todos los usos a los que se destinó, ya que el ángulo que forman las fachadas organizó bien los suelos separando así dichas entradas a ambos lados.

The draft SWFC Shanghai World Financial Center to finish it was abandoned temporarily motivated by the Asian financial crisis of late 1990. The splendid building was inaugurated in August 2008 and today is considered one of the best skyscrapers in the world, not in vain, was appointed by the CTBUH, Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, with headquarters in Chicago, as the best building the world in 2008. The design of this majestic building is inspired by a prism that represents earth cosmic plus two large arches at the top representing the heavens, these two concepts together and while building up towards the sky, make earth and sky melt and form a whole in the Shanghai skyline looking toward the future.
The building has a beautiful geometric none, and is composed of different shaped symmetrical facades based curtain walls. The base of the building is square and its dimensions are changing on the ground as it ascends, becoming smaller geometric shapes converge surface to a rectangle on the cover. The huge lens features a large bow on top that contains three viewpoints of observation at different heights with spectacular views on both sides of the city of Shanghai. The lower lookout, called Sky Arena, located on floors 94 and 95, a little higher, the lookout called Sky Walk consists of two observation platforms, one on the ground 97 and the highest in the plant number 100.
The building has 8 floors for shelter that are spread throughout the building in an earthquake or possible fire. The core office is housed on floors 7 and 77. The Hotel, situated just above the 67 floors of offices, the plant is distributed among 79 to 88 and has its own restaurant with three floors and several open spaces. Localizada en el nuevo distrito financiero de Lujiaziu, en Pudong, la Oriental Pearl TV Tower se encuentra emplazada entre dos puentes que le dan acceso al otro lado del río Huangpu, Yangpu en el noreste y Nanpu en el suroeste. La estructura está compuesta por gigantescos pilares de hormigón con once esferas de acero y vidrio que se sitúan a diferentes alturas. Tres pilares inclinados de 7 metros de diámetro en la base con otros apoyos, ayudan a soportar la estabilidad de la enorme torre. Desde el Museo que se sitúa en la base arrancan tres pilares totalmente verticales de 9 metros de diámetro cada uno que unen las dos grandes esferas. La esfera inferior cuenta con un diámetro de 50 metros mientras que la superior, dispone de 45 metros de diámetro. La esfera más alta es un mirador de observación y se llama “Módulo Espacial”; este mirador se encuentra a 350 metros de altura y cuenta con 14 metros de diámetro; otro mirador se encuentra entre los 259 y los 263 metros de altura; el más bajo, al que se le llamó “Ciudad del Espacio”, se sitúa a 90 metros de altura.
Veinte habitaciones de un hotel llamado “Hotel del Espacio”, se distribuyen entre las diferentes plantas localizadas entre las dos grandes esferas. A esta famosa torre se le dio un uso enteramente polivalente, ya que aparte de ofrecer un servicio de telecomunicaciones con radio y televisión, dispone de un Museo que cuenta la historia de la ciudad, más un Centro Comercial y hasta un restaurante giratorio situado a 267 metros. La Oriental Pearl TV Tower es sin duda una de las mejores atracciones turísticas de la ciudad de Shanghai. La famosa torre ofrece un uso enteramente polivalente y es visitada por millones de turistas cada año. Esta majestuosa torre es la tercera más alta del mundo, y al igual que la CN Tower de Toronto, en Canadá, también pertenece a la Federación Mundial de Grandes Torres.

Located in the Lujiaziu new financial district in Pudong, Oriental Pearl TV Tower is located between two bridges that give access to the other side of the river Huangpu, Yangpu Nanpu in the northeast and southwest. The structure is composed of giant concrete pillars with eleven areas of steel and glass that are placed at different heights. Three pillars inclined than 7 meters in diameter at the base with other supports, help support the stability of the huge tower. From the Museum which is situated at the base completely torn three vertical columns 9 meters in diameter each connecting the two areas. The lower sphere has a diameter of 50 meters while the top has 45 meters in diameter.
