El Puente colgante Golden Gate luce espléndido como un símbolo indudable de modernidad y progreso en la preciosa bahía de la ciudad de San Francisco, California, Estados Unidos. Atravesando el estrecho Golden Gate, de ahí su nombre, une la península norte de San Francisco con el sur del Condado de Marín, uno de los 58 condados del Estado de California. La bahía de San Francisco, sin este famoso puente, sería una bahía más en la costa oeste de los Estados Unidos de América; sin embargo, este majestuoso puente de color rojo hace que dicha bahía posea una verdadera identidad propia. Dos enormes torres de 227 metros de altura cada una, soportan los grandes arcos de acero que hacen la labor de sustentar el largo tablero de un lado a otro mediante una serie de cables y en una longitud total de 2.737 metros. Con un ancho total de 27 metros, contiene nada menos que seis carriles de tráfico rodado, tres para cada sentido, que ofrecen un servicio diario para la gran afluencia de vehículos que circulan por este transitado puente Californiano.


A ambos lados del puente, dos pasarelas peatonales ofrecen también acceso para las bicicletas. Estas vías peatonales se ven interrumpidas por las dos enormes torres que sortean a su paso por el exterior del tablero. Con una altura de Gálibo de 67 metros, este majestuoso y famoso puente colgante se diseñó también expresamente para dejar paso a los barcos de gran envergadura bajo su paso inferior. Las obras de este famoso puente se inician el 5 de enero de 1933 y finalizan en abril de 1937. La gran inauguración de apertura peatonal se produce el 27 de mayo a las 6.00 AM; la tan ansiada apertura al tráfico rodado se inauguraría al día siguiente. El alto grado de oxidación en la zona de la bahía provocada por el Océano Pacífico, propició el rápido pintado del característico color rojo de la estructura del puente en un tiempo récord.

Golden Gate Bridge looks splendid pendant as a symbol of modernity and progress doubt on the beautiful bay of San Francisco, California, USA. Crossing the Golden Gate, hence its name, linking the northern peninsula of San Francisco to southern Marin County, one of the 58 counties of the State of California. San Francisco Bay without this famous bridge, would be a more bay on the west coast of the United States of America, however, this majestic red bridge makes this bay has a true identity. Two huge towers of 227 meters each, bearing the great arches of steel that make the work of sustaining the long board from one side to another through a series of cables and a total length of 2,737 meters. With a width of 27 meters, contains no less than six traffic lanes, three for each direction, which offer daily service to the large influx of vehicles on this bridge transited Californian.


On both sides of the bridge, two pedestrian walkways also provide access for bicycles. These walkways are interrupted by two huge towers that surround it passes through the outside of the board. Localizada en la Isla de la Libertad que baña el río Hudson y a 2.5 kilómetros de distancia aproximadamente del sur de Manhattan, la famosa Estatua de la Libertad se erige espléndida como un símbolo indudable de libertad para el mundo entero. El escultor francés Frédérick-Auguste Bartholdi, recibía el encargo por parte de las autoridades francesas para la realización de esta gigante escultura que donarían a la ciudad de Nueva York con motivo del Centenario de la Independencia de los Estados Unidos de América en 1.886. El Ingeniero estructural Maurice Koechlin, autor también del diseño estructural de la famosa Torre Eiffel de París, construiría el esqueleto que serviría de base para que el escultor francés esculpiese las 350 piezas que conforman la obra. La escultura fue construida en Francia en el taller en 1.884, y llegaría desmontada por piezas en barco hasta Nueva York en 1.885. El famoso dibujo (Skyline) que ofrecen hoy día los rascacielos de la ciudad de Manhattan, puede ser observado también desde la propia isla.

Los 350 paneles de cobre tienen un espesor de 2.37 mm cada uno y son el material empleado en la enorme escultura, junto con el acero de la estructura interna que lo sostiene. Un Museo se sitúa en el interior del pedestal que financiarían diversas fuentes de los Estados Unidos de América. La corrosión provocada por la climatología propia del lugar, es la que ofrece el característico color verde de la estatua. En el año 1.984 la Estatua de la Libertad sería declarada por la UNESCO Patrimonio de la Humanidad. La famosa estatua sería inaugurada el 28 de octubre de 1.886, y a día de hoy es todo un símbolo de la isla de Manhattan. La estatua sostiene en su mano derecha una antorcha recubierta de oro. En su mano izquierda la estatua sostiene una tabla con la inscripción “July IV MDCCLXXVI”, (4 de julio de 1.776) , día en el que los Estados Unidos declaraban la independencia.

Located on Liberty Island, which bathes the Hudson River and approximately 2.5 kilometers away from Manhattan, the famous Statue of Liberty stands as a splendid symbol of freedom to doubt the whole world. Frédérick-French sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, was commissioned by the French authorities to carry out this giant sculpture that donate to the city of New York to mark the centenary of the Independence of the United States in 1886. The structural engineer Maurice Koechlin, author also of the structural design of the famous Eiffel Tower, build the skeleton to form the basis for the French sculptor carve the 350 pieces that make up the work. The sculpture was built in France at the workshop in 1884 and dismantled for parts arrive by ship to New York in 1885. The famous drawing (Skyline) today offered the city's skyscrapers of Manhattan, can be seen also from the island itself.

The 350 copper panels have a thickness of 2.37 mm each and are the material of the huge sculpture, along with steel internal structure that supports it. Corrosion caused by the weather of the place, is offered by the green color characteristic of the statue. In 1984 the Statue of Liberty would be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The famous statue would be inaugurated on 28 October 1886, and today is a symbol of the island of Manhattan. The statue holds in her right hand a torch covered in gold. In his left hand the statue holds a table with the inscription "July IV MDCCLXXVI" (July 4, 1,776), the day that America declared independence.
