El Edificio de Oficinas situado en la Avenida Diagonal 197 de la ciudad de Barcelona y que ha sido diseñado por el arquitecto inglés David Chipperfield en colaboración con b720 arquitectos, viene a revitalizar junto con otros proyectos de gran envergadura el nuevo Distrito de la Innovación, denominado 22@, y que se sitúa muy cerca de la famosa Torre Agbar, diseño de otro arquitecto de prestigio internacional, el francés Jean Nouvel. El nuevo icono de la ciudad condal se encuentra localizado concretamente en la zona del Campus Audiovisual, que está delimitado por la propia Avenida Diagonal, y las calles Llacuna, Almogàvers y Ciutat de Granada. El edificio ha sido diseñado teniendo en cuenta el criterio definido por el P.E.R.I. bajo la aprobación de la Comisión de Calidad del Ayuntamiento de la ciudad de Barcelona; de esta forma, con el ajuste exhaustivo de su volumetría, se ha logrado que el nuevo edificio de oficinas se integre de manera sobresaliente con su entorno urbano más inmediato, ya que también posee la misma altura que el resto de edificaciones anexas.

Son dos módulos de 10 y 7 plantas los que componen el Edificio de Oficinas Diagonal 197@. El módulo más bajo, alineado con la propia Avenida Diagonal, está formado por una planta de forma romboidal que se presenta como el basamento del edificio. Mientras tanto, el módulo más alto y esbelto que corona el edificio de oficinas, queda retranqueado con respecto a la Avenida Diagonal y esta formado por un rectángulo trapezoidal. En el módulo más bajo se ha habilitado una gran terraza transitable que ofrece desahogo en el edificio en su parte superior; varias plantas de parking se alojan también bajo la rasante de la calle con acceso desde la calle Ciutat de Granada. Para la construcción del edificio se han tenido en cuenta también criterios de eco-eficiencia energética, y mediante el gran grosor de los muros prefabricados de hormigón coloreado de similar construcción que los realizados para la nueva Ciudad de la Justicia, obra que también ha sido diseñada por el estudio David Chipperfield Architects, el Campus Audiovisual ha conseguido un importante ahorro energético en el interior del edificio mediante la ventilación cruzada y la entrada de luz natural.
Lo más destacado del Edificio Diagonal 197@ es sin lugar a dudas su innovadora fachada mediante paneles opacos prefabricados de hormigón coloreado de diferentes medidas con los que se ha conseguido una bonita composición en tonalidades color tierra; el color se aplica in situ en la propia dosificación de la mezcla, de modo que el pigmento forma parte de la masa y no se ha aplicado después. La innovadora fachada, compuesta por medio de huecos arquitrabados, “horizontales que se apoyan en estructuras verticales”, presenta poca superficie vidriada en comparación con la mayoría de edificios de nueva construcción que se erigen en la actualidad y que están basados en el tan empleado muro cortina y que tiene el factor negativo de tener que emplear un costoso sistema de aire acondicionado. La fachada se ha confeccionado mediante módulos opacos de dos dimensiones distintas, 1.20x3 metros y 0.60x3 metros, respectivamente; también otros 2 módulos “ventana” de similares dimensiones que los anteriores; éstos, forman una composición geométrica casi perfecta.

Office Building located on the Avenida Diagonal 197, Barcelona and has been designed by British architect David Chipperfield Architects in collaboration with b720, comes to revive alongside other major projects the new Innovation district called 22 @, which is situated near the famous Agbar Agbar, designed by another internationally renowned architect, Frenchman Jean Nouvel. Building Highlights Diagonal 197@ is certainly an innovative opaque facade with precast concrete panels colored different measures which have resulted in a beautiful earth color tones composition, the color is applied in situ in their own dosage of the mixture, so that the pigment is part of the estate and has not been applied later.
