La famosa Torre Agbar está inspirada en las formas rocosas de las Montañas de Montserrat, que se encuentran situadas a unos 50 Km. al noroeste de Barcelona; también en el agua y en el color azul del mar mediterráneo, junto con el importante legado arquitectónico que nos dejó nuestro genio Antoni Gaudí. El edificio acoge el registro de oficinas de la Compañía de Aguas de Barcelona (AGBAR) más un auditorio para 316 plazas, una planta destinada a cafetería, varias salas polivalentes y un mirador. La planta del edificio esta compuesta por dos cilindros ovales no concéntricos coronados por una cúpula de cristal y acero, a través de la que se consigue ventilar el edificio mediante una doble piel de vidrio y hormigón, reduciendo enormemente el gasto energético en aire acondicionado.

Las diferentes oficinas se distribuyen a través de 31 plantas diáfanas y en torno al primer anillo interior del edificio. Este núcleo central, que se revistió con nada menos que 59619 lamas de cristal transparente y translúcido, es donde se encuentran alojados todos los servicios mediante la circulación vertical de los ascensores, las escaleras de emergencia y las instalaciones. Son nada menos que 4500 las ventanas que componen la fachada vanguardista y de preciosas coloraciones. Esta conformada a base de chapas de aluminio lacado de cuarenta colores distintos, predominando los colores rojo, verde, azul y gris, y que dan la sensación de ir descomponiéndose a medida que van ascendiendo hasta la cima.

La Torre Agbar se ha convertido en un ejemplo de arquitectura verde y ecológica, en la que no sólo no se han empleado materiales contaminantes en ella, sino que además consigue aprovechar todos los recursos naturales respetando así el medio ambiente que la rodea. El prestigioso arquitecto francés Jean Nouvel dispuso una doble marquesina con perfiles metálicos y vidrio para señalar en gran medida el acceso principal por el que se accede a la majestuosa torre a través de la transitada Avenida Diagonal de Barcelona. El Auditorio para 316 plazas en el que predomina el color rojo, se encuentra alojado bajo la rasante de la calle. Mediante la doble piel exterior innovadora formada por la cúpula de coronación y las 4349 aberturas de las que dispone la preciosa fachada, se consigue refrigerar enormemente el edificio; de esta forma, el aire circula de una forma natural por todo el edificio.

The famous Torre Agbar was inspired by the rock formations in the mountains of Montserrat, which are located about 50 km northwest of Barcelona, also in the water and the blue Mediterranean Sea, along with the significant architectural legacy let our genius Antoni Gaudi. The building houses the offices of the record company Aguas de Barcelona (Agbar), plus an auditorium for 316 seats, a plant to café, multipurpose rooms and a veranda. The floor of the building is composed of two non-concentric oval cylinders topped by a glass and steel dome, through which air is achieved by building a double skin of glass and concrete, greatly reducing the energy consumption in air conditioning.

The different offices spread across 31 open floor plans and the first ring around the building. This central core, which is overlaid with nothing less than 59,619 lamas translucent and transparent glass, is where all services hosted by the vertical movement of the elevators, emergency stairs and facilities. They are no less than 4500 windows that make up the front cutting edge and beautiful colors. This formed the basis of lacquered aluminum sheets forty different colors, predominantly red, green, blue, gray, and give the sensation of rotting as they climb to the top.

La Torre Agbar has become an example of green architecture and ecology, in which not only polluting materials are used in it, but also gets use of all natural resources and respecting the environment that surrounds it. The architect france Jean Nouvel ordered a double carport with metal frames and glass to point to a large extent the main entrance which is accessed through the majestic tower of the busy Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona. The auditorium for 316 seats in the predominantly red color, is housed in the grade of the road. Through innovative double skin exterior dome formed by the 4349 coronation and the openings available to the beautiful facade, you get extremely cool the building, thus the air naturally circulates throughout the building.

El prestigioso arquitecto Norman Foster tuvo el enorme reto de presentar el proyecto de la Hearst Tower días después del triste atentado del 11 S. La importante Corporación Hearst encargaba al famoso arquitecto un nuevo edificio emblemático que pudiese acoger las oficinas de las diferentes publicaciones editoriales pertenecientes a la importante Compañía en la ciudad de Nueva York. Se demolió el antiguo edificio construido en los años veinte desde el interior respetando la antigua fachada de seis plantas y de estilo Art Decó. Los materiales empleados en la preciosa fachada son unos perfiles de acero inoxidable y vidrio especial de alta resistencia para no dejar penetrar el calor y la radiación.

El arranque de la estructura lo componen unos pilares enormes tanto verticales como inclinados para mejor sustento del edificio; de esta forma se consiguió un gran lobby diáfano de bienvenida al edificio con una escalera mecánica y una fuente en desnivel de tres pisos con la que se consigue refrigerar enormemente el edificio, con el consiguiente ahorro energético que esto conlleva. En la cubierta de este enorme Lobby se abrieron también paneles acristalados para el mejor aprovechamiento de la luz natural en su interior; a través de este importante espacio se conectan todos los servicios del edificio. Con el diseño de la fachada mediante la sorprendente estructura de acero a modo de rejilla “Diagrid” con las vigas en carga diagonales, se consiguió también ahorrar hasta un 20 % más de acero que en un rascacielos de tipo convencional.

El 85% del acero empleado en el nuevo edificio es reciclado, por lo que la Hearst Tower se ha convertido en el primer rascacielos ecológico del siglo 21 para la ciudad de Nueva York. La Hearst Tower, que esta inspirada en la figura de un diamente tallado con sus características vigas en carga diagonales, se ha convertido, sin lugar a dudas, en uno de los edificios más queridos y representativos de la arquitectura americana; no en vano, este importante high-rise pertenece a la lista de los 150 edificios más importantes y representativos de América, importante lista que ha sido elaborada por el prestigioso AIA Instituto Americano de Arquitectos.

The renowned architect Norman Foster had the great challenge of presenting the project of the Hearst Tower sad days after the attacks of 11 S. The important Hearst Corporation commissioned the famous architect a new landmark building that would house the offices of the various publications pertaining to the major publishing company in New York City. He demolished the old building built in the twenties from inside respecting the old facade of six floors and Art Deco. The materials used in the beautiful facade are some sections of stainless steel and highly resistant special glass to keep heat and penetrating radiation.

The start of the structure, huge pillars up both vertical and inclined for better upkeep of the building, in this way got a big welcome airy lobby to the building with an escalator and a source in three-story drop that achieved greatly cool the building, thus saving energy this entails. On the cover of this huge lobby glass panels were also opened for the best use of natural light inside, and through this important area connecting all building services. With the design of the facade by striking steel structure as a grid "diagrid" laden with diagonal beams, was also achieved savings up to 20% more steel than a conventional skyscraper.
