Con el fin de crear una nueva sede en la ciudad de Nueva York, la importante Compañía de Internet InterActiveCorp con marcas en 40 países y en colaboración con la Compañía Georgetown, encargaba al prestigioso Arquitecto Frank O. Gehry, Premio Pritzker (Novel de la Arquitectura) en 1989, un edificio emblemático que pudiese acoger a su plantilla de empleados en la isla de Manhattan. El sorprendente edificio se ha convertido en el emblema de la compañía en Nueva York y se le llamó oficialmente con las siglas ("IAC" Building) en honor a su Promotor. El edificio luce espléndido en la zona oeste de Chelsea, frente a la Avenida 11 y entre las calles 18 y 19; también frente a los muelles y al lado de varios centros de entretenimiento. El IAC Building se ha convertido sin lugar a dudas en un nuevo icono de la ciudad de Nueva York y viene a revitalizar una zona en decadencia junto con un nuevo edificio residencial situado justo a su lado y que ha sido diseñado por el prestigioso arquitecto Jean Nouvel.
El majestuoso y vanguardista edificio cuenta con una planta de formas irregulares en zig-zag y está compuesto por dos módulos inclinados de diferentes alturas que se distribuyen en nueve plantas; el primer módulo y más bajo tiene cinco plantas, mientras que el superior, de menor envergadura, dispone de cuatro. El módulo más alto, al tener menores dimensiones que el inferior, ofrece un gran espacio exterior que a modo de terraza, crea bastante desahogo en el edificio ofreciendo espectaculares vistas al río Hudson y Nueva Jersey. El diseño de Frank O. Gehry demuestra el incansable quehacer del arquitecto por su gran pasión, la arquitectura deconstructivista, que está basada en la geometría no euclidiana (Geometría que utiliza el ángulo recto) y con la que consigue gracias a un software innovador basado en la ingeniería aeroespacial llamado Catia, digitalizar cada vértice de las maquetas del arquitecto para llevar a la realidad el diseño de sus sorprendentes formas estructurales y de vanguardia.
La fachada innovadora de forma escultural está revestida por una superficie de 2732 m² de vidrio y queda aislada de la megaestructura de hormigón armado que cuenta con una serie de pilares inclinados. Esta fachada, que tiene una altura de casi 50 metros, está compuesta por un sistema de muro cortina mediante paneles de vidrio especial con la particularidad de tener un recubrimiento de partículas de cérámica y diferentes dibujos incrustados con los que se mejora enormemente la eficiencia energética del edificio. La piel del IAC cuenta con paredes inclinadas y los espacios irregulares interiores permiten distribuir las oficinas de formas variadas. El IAC Building dispone también de un garaje auxiliar para 70 aparcamientos y un patio anexo al vestíbulo de entrada que se diseñó expresamente para distintos eventos. El color blanco no tan habitual en la obra de Frank O. Gehry se pone aquí de manifiesto y consigue aportar a la ciudad de Nueva York modernidad junto con obras tan destacadas como el New Museum de Sanaa, Pritzker en 2010.

To create a new headquarters in New York City, the major Internet company InterActiveCorp brands in 40 countries and in collaboration with the Georgetown Company, directed the renowned architect Frank O. Gehry, Pritzker Prize (Novel of Architecture) in 1989, a landmark building that could accommodate its staff of employees on the island of Manhattan. The striking building has become the emblem of the company in New York and was officially named with the acronym ("IAC" Building) in honor of its promoter. The building looks splendid in the western part of Chelsea, off the Avenida 11 between calles 18 and 19, also against the docks and next to several entertainment centers. The IAC Building has undoubtedly become a new icon for the city of New York and is to revitalize an area in decline along with a new residential tower next to him and has been designed by the renowned architect Jean Nouvel.
The majestic building has cutting-edge plant forms irregular zig-zag and consists of two modules of different heights sloping spread over nine floors, the first module and the lower five floors, while the upper, lower size, has four. The highest form, to be smaller than the bottom, offers a large outdoor terrace that mode, creates enough relief in the building with spectacular views of the Hudson River and New Jersey. Fran O. design Gehry shows the tireless task of the architect for his great passion, deconstructive architecture, which is based on non-Euclidean geometry (geometry that uses the right angle) and that achieved by an innovative software-based aerospace engineering called Catia, scanning each vertex of the models of the architect to bring to reality the design of their surprising structural forms and avant-garde.
The innovative façade is clad sculptural form an area of 2732 square meters of glass and is isolated from the mega-concrete which has a series of inclined columns. This façade, which has an altitude of 50 meters, consists of a curtain wall system with glass panels special particularity of having a coating of ceramic particles embedded with different designs which greatly improves the energy efficiency of building. The skin of the IAC has sloping walls and irregular spaces inside allow offices to distribute various forms. The IAC Building also has an assistant for 70 parking garage and a courtyard attached to the entrance hall was designed specifically for different events. The color white is not so common in the work of Frank O. Gehry is placed here to provide clear and get to the city of New York currency along with such notable works as the New Museum in Sana'a, Pritzker in 2010.
